Holiday Clear Toy

As the weather cools our stoves start warming up!  Soon all manner of beast, man, and object, in colorful crystalline sugar will be filling our shelves.  Pick-up a piece of the edible art in our shop or order online.

Online Clear Toy Orders will begin shipping by Wednesday, November 16th.  Order by Tuesday, December 20th for delivery by Christmas.

Hints of Winter

It may only be early November, but we are thinking of snow drifts, roasted nuts, strung cranberries, and a traditional Christmas orange!  Our creamy White Chocolate paired with Candied Orange Peel, Dried Cranberries, and Walnuts will have you dreaming of a White Christmas.
Available to order online

Centerpiece Gone a Fowl?

Dress your table with a centerpiece of Milk and Dark Chocolate Turkeys and Cornucopias!  Fill the cornucopia with a bounty of our house-made Chocolate or Penny Candy.

Our Orange Cashew Meltaway features Cashew Butter with Orange Zest, Dark Chocolate, topped with Candied Orange Zest. The Toasted Sesame Meltaway combines Tahini and Coconut Oil, infused in Milk Chocolate, dipped in Dark Chocolate and topped with Toasted Sesame Seeds.

New Origins: Alto Beni, Bolivia

Bold, earthy cacao from Bolivia’s Alto Beni region is in. We taste green olive and oak.  Try it in our Single Origin Drinking Chocolate, or take home a tasting square to share.

Orange Zest Sugar Biscuits

Nothing pairs with our Tuscan Jasmine Cioccolato quite like these delicate delights.  A hint of citrus beautifully sets off the chocolate’s floral notes.  Try one with your next drinking chocolate!

Confectionery Cabin (Opens November 25th)

The Franklin Fountain returns to the RiverRink on the Delaware. With piping hot cups of decadent and delicious Drinking Chocolates and Hot Cocoas, the ever popular House-Made Some’mores and Marshmallows for roasting over the fire pits, and seasonal Ice Creams, our Confectionery Cabin is worth a visit! Come enjoy ice-skating and imbibe in some of your seasonal favorites!

Weather Changing Flavors

As the leaves are turning, our kitchen is churning out harvest ice cream flavors such as Apple Butter!

November’s Neighborhood Nuts

Picked in our very own backyards!  Black Walnuts and Old Hickories will be dropping into The Franklin Fountain.  Look out for a limited batch of our Hickory Ice Cream and our Black Walnut Cookies.

Hot Milkshakes

A Franklin Fountain classic, try a Hot Milkshake today!  Our Toasted Marshmallow Malted is sure to delight.  Fluffy Marshmallow-enriched Vanilla Ice Cream spun with Malted Milk Powder and melted Bittersweet Chocolate over one of Reverend Sylvester Graham’s Crackers (and served with toasted house-made Marshmallow)

Hallowe’en Haunted Tour

Eerie tales of yore, on our ghastly tour, indulge in grim treats, from the old sweets store!  Join us for our first ever Hallowe’en Haunted Tour!  Twice a night, 6:30pm & 7:45pm, October 21, 23, 28, and 30th.  Learn, taste, and have your fortune told all in America’s oldest confectionery.  $13 per ticket.  Please call 215-922-1048, visit our website , or stop in our shop at 110 Market Street to reserve your ticket.  Space is limited.  Tour recommended for 10+ years.

We’ve been boiling and toiling, and our cauldrons are bubbling over with Hallowe’en candy!  Spoil those trick-or-treaters with Candy Corn, Pumpkin and Maple Maltballs, Licorice Pastilles, or Pumpkin Caramels.  Give a gift to your best ghoul, try one of our ghastly cameos filled with blood red pomegranate caramel, a clear toy witch, or a whole coffin filled with enough sweets to raise any spirit.  A selection of our halloween candies are available  to order online.

Caramel & Candied Apples

Delicious tart Heirloom Apples, dipped in salted house-made Caramel with or without salted Pecans, or glazed in red Hard Candy.  Made fresh every Friday through October and only available Friday – Sunday.

Pumpkin Fudge & Buttercreams

Savor the end of Summer and the start of Autumn with Pumpkin Fudge or try our Pumpkin Buttercream for a taste of the season.  Both are made with real Pumpkin, freshly grated Nutmeg, spicy Ginger and warming Cinnamon. Available in the shop and to order online

Death & Chocolate

We resurrected the Victorian Funeral Biscuit.  Biscuits embossed with Latin epitaphs, hearts, skulls, or crosses, were given out to mourners.  At times they were left on the chest of the deceased during the wake, or wrapped in paper with a poem, and given out as favors.  Our morbid tokens are house-made Dark Chocolate Skulls emblazoned with “ÆTERNE”, cast in locally hand-sculpted moulds, and wrapped in authentic funerary poetry.

Agua de Nicaragua Drinking Chocolate

Organic Nicaraguan Cocoa is house-roasted and refined with Cinnamon and Coconut Milk, then whipped into a luxurious hot libation.  Our version is a take on the traditional Nicaraguan beverage Pinolillo.

Pumpkin Incredi-bells

Our Incredi-bell is a Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Liberty Bell filled with house-made Marshmallows that you can melt into your own drinking chocolate.  This month we’ve stuffed them with Pumpkin Marshmallows.  Just add hot milk or water and watch as these pearls of pumpkin perfection are cast adrift in mouthwatering Chocolate!

Autumnal Ice Cream

Cinnamon and Sea Salt Caramel have returned.  Warm up with our Cinnamon Ice Cream made with Cinnamon from Red Ape; it’s non-GMO, organic, and 5% of the profits go towards helping orangutans.  The Cinnamon is packed by Pearl Buck Center, an organization that provides work for those with developmental disabilities.  Our Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream is made with deep, amber Caramel and local Cape May Sea Salt.  It pairs ever so nicely with our Chocolate, Peanut Butter, or Pumpkin!

Caramel Apple Pie Milkshake (now as vegan too!)

Try our Caramel Apple Pie Shake:  Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and house-made hot Caramel Sauce, blended with our house-made Apple Pie!  Gooey caramel, warm pie, and cool ice cream is a dessert not to be trifled with.  Or order a slice a-la-mode, the Jerks suggest the Cinnamon Ice Cream.

Great Pumpkin Sundae

The wait is over, The Great Pumpkin Sundae has returned!  Pumpkin Ice Cream made with local real Squash, smothered in house-made Caramel, sprinkled with Salted Pecans, dusted with Malt Powder, and topped with fresh Whipped Cream!  Also offered as Vegan, when made without the malt powder.

House-Made Hot Fudge and Brownies

The Guittard Family has valued excellence in chocolate making since 1868.  We are now using 63% Guittard Chocolate in our house-made Hot Fudge and our Brownies.  We think it has vastly improved their flavor and depth.

Old City Fall Fest

Meet us October 9th 2016, from 11am to 6pm at Old City Fall Fest.   Several blocks along North 3rd Street and Arch Street will be closed to traffic to showcase local designers, creative firms, restaurants, retailers, galleries and theaters, as well as the neighborhood’s culture, history, and architecture.  We will be offering Autumnal Ice Creams, Sundaes, and Ice Cream Sandwiches.

West Laurel Hill Chocolate Tasting
