Join Atlas Obscura Society Philadelphia and Shane Confectionery for a delicious exploration of America’s oldest continuously operating confectionery.
The tour traverses Shane Confectionery’s shop, candy kitchen, and Chocolate Works production spaces, where you’ll taste your way through their history, while learning about antique equipment and techniques still in use today.
Shane’s Collections Manager, Laurel Burmeister, will also be opening their archives to the public, offering a unique, curated look into turn-of-the-century collections which shed light on the history of ice cream, confections, and chocolate in America. You’ll even be able to handle some 19th-century candy making artifacts!
