America's Oldest Continuous Confectionery
Don your blackest clothes, tuck in your handkerchief, and step through the veil to join Shane Confectionery for their annual haunting event. Sweet Hereafter: Confections for the Afterlife will guide visitors through America’s oldest confectionery, exploring life, death, and beyond.
Taste how Victorian-era Americans mourned the dead, but with a sweet twist. Over the course of their 45 minute journey, visitors will be led through Shane Confectionery’s shop and kitchens, engaging in a funeral, seance, and forgotten rites for the deceased. Through these experiences they will learn about food’s role in some of our more obscure death rituals. Guests will step away with a collection of delicious candy, including a hand-crafted chocolate memento mori.
